About The Position

The Director will play a crucial role in driving revenue growth and expanding our market presence in California. This position involves leading the inside sales team to open new accounts, increase sales of new products within existing accounts, and re-engage inactive accounts. The Director will also oversee sales support infrastructure, including sales goal development, performance tracking, and effective call center operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field; MBA preferred.
  • 5–10 years of experience in retail cannabis and/or consumer packaged goods (CPG) sales, with an emphasis on inside sales.
  • Strong leadership and team management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and sales analytics tools
  • Analytical mindset with ability to extract insights from data

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve regional revenue targets.
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate the inside sales team to exceed sales goals and enhance productivity.
  • Oversee daily sales reporting to ensure clarity and effectiveness.
  • Drive lead generation through various channels (e.g., social media, networking events).
  • Manage and follow up with existing leads, ensuring timely updates and actions.
  • Maintain and update the sales pipeline regularly, identifying new opportunities.
  • Monitor and analyze sales performance, including total revenue generated and achievement of sales targets.
  • Use data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Identify obstacles such as limited access to decision-makers and develop strategies to overcome them.
  • Provide actionable insights to enhance the sales process.
  • Stay informed about market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to shape strategy and offerings.
  • Set and track daily and weekly action items aligned with broader sales goals.
  • Adjust plans based on performance reviews and market dynamics.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team focused on cannabis sales.
  • Establish clear expectations, particularly around call center metrics.
  • Conduct ongoing training on cannabis products, compliance, and communication skills.

  • Develop processes for upselling within current accounts and reactivating inactive clients.
  • Ensure all sales calls, inquiries, and follow-ups are logged and tracked efficiently.

  • Utilize software tools for accurate performance tracking and reporting.
  • Define and monitor KPIs such as new accounts opened, upselling success, call response times, and reactivation rates.
  • Prepare performance reports and conduct gap analysis to drive improvements.
  • Oversee the development and use of sales tools, training materials, and resources.
  • Coordinate with IT and operations to ensure access to CRM systems and compliance tools.
  • Streamline sales processes to enhance team productivity.
  • Work with marketing, product development, and customer service to align sales efforts.

  • Stay up to date on cannabis industry trends and competitor activities.
