About The Position

The University of Miami has a great opportunity for a Director, Parking and Transportation to work at the Coral Gables Campus. The Director, Parking & Transportation provides strategic, administrative, financial, and operational leadership for the University’s comprehensive parking and mobility program. The Director is responsible for developing and implementing innovative, data-driven strategies, policies, programs, and services that support the University’s academic, research, clinical, residential, athletic, and administrative missions while providing a safe, efficient, accessible, and customer-focused transportation experience for students, faculty, staff, visitors, and other campus constituents.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required
Minimum 10 years of relevant experience required

Responsibilities

Oversees all University parking and mobility systems, infrastructure, and technology.
Ensures financial integrity through effective revenue, cash handling, and financial controls.
Leads staff recruitment, development, training, performance, and succession planning.
Resolves complex parking, transportation, access, and customer service issues.
Uses data and analytics to measure performance and drive operational improvements.
Leads short- and long-term parking, transportation, and mobility planning.
Directs operating and capital budgets, expenditures, forecasting, and financial performance.
Serves as the University’s primary liaison for parking, transportation, and mobility matters.
Ensures effective internal controls, risk management, and compliance with University policies and regulations.
Leads the implementation of emerging parking and mobility technologies, including LPR/ALPR and mobile enforcement.
Oversees parking enforcement, traffic management, campus access, and major event operations.
Drives innovation, sustainability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across Parking & Transportation.
Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
Leads the department’s strategic plan, annual priorities, operating model, policies, service standards, and performance measures.
Develops executive recommendations related to parking capacity, permits, pricing, technology, mobility, customer impact, risk, and major investments.
Represents Parking & Transportation on University committees, advisory groups, capital and construction initiatives, emergency planning efforts, and cross-functional programs.
Builds partnerships across the University and with municipalities, transit agencies, public safety organizations, and community stakeholders to advance departmental and institutional priorities.
Provides strategic oversight of parking inventory, utilization, permits, pricing, access, enforcement, citations, and appeals.
Uses parking utilization, customer feedback, citation, revenue, and event data to guide policy, resource allocation, and operational decisions.
Leads long-range parking planning based on campus growth, changing demand, major events, construction impacts, and other changes affecting parking inventory.
Develops dashboards and forecasts to identify parking trends, anticipate future needs, and inform University leadership.
Ensures enforcement, appeals, and customer-resolution practices are fair, consistent, documented, and aligned with University policy.
Leads the department’s technology and innovation strategy based on business priorities, customer needs, industry trends, and the evolving parking and mobility landscape.
Evaluates emerging technologies and partnerships based on operational value, financial impact, scalability, customer value, and alignment with University priorities.
Guides the advancement and integration of parking, permit, enforcement, payment, license plate recognition, space availability, wayfinding, customer relationship management, analytics, and AI-enabled platforms.
Partners with University technology, security, finance, and other teams to integrate parking technologies with payment, identification, and enterprise systems.
Uses technology, automation, and data to improve decision-making, parking guidance, operational performance, policy compliance, and the customer experience.
Establishes performance expectations for technology vendors and ensures systems remain reliable, secure, current, and positioned for future growth.
Leads and develops managers, supervisors, professional staff, frontline employees, and student employees through clear expectations, coaching, training, recognition, and accountability.
Aligns staffing, schedules, roles, and resources with daily operations, major events, projects, seasonal demands, and departmental priorities.
Builds an inclusive, collaborative, and customer-focused culture grounded in continuous improvement and the University’s DIRECCT values.
Works closely with Public Safety, Facilities, Student Affairs, event partners, and other University stakeholders to coordinate campus operations.
Provides leadership and on-site support during major events, emergencies, service disruptions, and other high-impact operations, including nights and weekends as needed.
Ensures employees are trained in University and departmental policies, systems, customer service, safety, financial controls, data standards, and emergency responsibilities.
Aligns staffing, schedules, and resources with daily operations, major events, projects, and seasonal demands.
Builds an inclusive, collaborative, and customer-focused culture grounded in continuous improvement and the University’s DIRECCT values.
Works closely with Public Safety, Facilities, Student Affairs, event partners, and other University stakeholders to coordinate campus operations.
Provides leadership and on-site support for major events, emergencies, and other high-impact operations, including nights and weekends as needed.
Leads the department’s annual operating and capital budgets, financial forecasts, revenue projections, cost controls, and executive reporting.
Develops pricing strategies for permits, visitor parking, and special events while considering affordability, market conditions, and customer impact.
Prepares business cases and cost-benefit analyses for investments in technology, equipment, facilities, staffing, and services.
Leads vendor contracts, procurement, negotiations, invoicing, renewals, and third-party relationships supporting parking, transportation, and mobility operations.
Conducts regular business reviews to evaluate vendor performance, service levels, financial results, and compliance with University standards.
Identifies opportunities to strengthen financial controls, improve revenue, reduce costs, and optimize University resources.
Leads shuttle, safe-ride, transit, rideshare, carpool, bicycle, micromobility, accessibility, motorist assistance, and other transportation and mobility programs.
Establishes performance expectations for service reliability, capacity, safety, accessibility, and customer communication.
Improves shuttle routes, schedules, and connections to provide reliable access to University destinations.
Develops clear digital wayfinding, maps, and signage to help customers navigate parking facilities and campus destinations.
Expands sustainable transportation options and incentive programs that encourage transit, carpooling, bicycling, and other alternatives to driving alone.
Evaluates new mobility programs and partnerships based on customer value, operational feasibility, financial impact, safety, accessibility, and alignment with University priorities.
