About The Position

Fowler Automotive is excited to announce the addition of a Corporate Director of Used Vehicle Operations to our growing organization. This position will play a critical role in supporting Fowler Automotive's continued growth and success by overseeing and optimizing the acquisition, reconditioning, sales, transfer, and disposal of vehicles across all Fowler dealerships. The role is designed to maximize the profitability on both retail and wholesale units while ensuring efficient inventory management throughout the organization. In addition, the Corporate Director of Used Vehicle Operations will focus on improving look-to-book performance and increasing trade percentages across the dealership network. This leader will also provide operational support and strategic guidance to dealership teams as requested and directed. Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License and MVR acceptable to our Insurance Carrier
  • Extensive in-store acquisition experience required
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior multi-rooftop acquisition experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Filling in at a dealership as needed should be expected.
  • Travel and overnight stays may be required.
  • Works with and through the General Managers of the stores on all policy issues i.e. hiring, firing, disciplinary issues, etc.
  • Acquires used vehicles through available sources.
  • Ensures that cosmetic and mechanical reconditioning is performed within the dealerships.
  • Places used vehicles acquired at appropriate store using real time data and analytics.
  • Moves vehicles from store to store as needed using data and analytics to maximize sales volume and revenue.
  • Establishes and controls wholesaling activities.
  • Maintains vehicle inventory and controls aging.
  • Monitors and ensures stores are following best practice pricing practices.
  • Monitors customers’ lost sales, missed trades, and dealership sales history and conducts local market analyses to determine which vehicles are best suited for inventory acquisition based on supply and demand and where stores need to focus to maximize results here.
  • Tracks results of acquisitions and sales and compares costs and profits to identify trends that will help improve performance.
  • Keeps abreast of retail and wholesale market activity and identifies market trends.
  • Communicate trends to team to adjust strategy as needed.
  • Discusses purchasing requirements and forecasts sales for future months with store managers.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of and ensures compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations regarding the used-vehicle industry.
  • Supports sales staffing and training in ways that will enhance the development and control of sales programs.
  • Attends weekly corporate manager meetings.
