About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Office of War Memorial Student Union seeks a Director of Student Union to oversee the operations and activities of the Student Union. The facility serves students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the surrounding community, offering dining, events, and educational, cultural, social, and recreational experiences. Based on scheduled events, the position may include night, weekend, and holiday responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Three years of full-time, professional-level experience.
• Administrative and supervisory skills.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Competency in marketing, event planning, staff training and supervision, program development and evaluation, and computer software/applications, including scheduling software.
• Positive attitude, flexibility, and commitment to teamwork.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree from an accredited university in Business, Student Affairs, Marketing, or a related field.
• Knowledge of the concept of a student union within a university setting.
• Knowledge of facility management.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and independently manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proven ability to work well in a team environment.
• Ability to assess information accurately, exercise good judgment, and make independent decisions.
• Ability to communicate professionally, diplomatically, empathetically, and tactfully by phone, in writing, and in person.
• Knowledge and use of audio/visual equipment.
• Experience with budgets and revenue-producing functions.
• Knowledge of sales, marketing, and/or graphic design.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operations and activities of the Student Union.
• Support the Union’s services and experiences for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the surrounding community.
