About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Office of War Memorial Student Union is hiring a Director of Student Union to oversee the operations and activities of the Student Union, a premier campus facility serving students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the surrounding community. The Union provides dining, events, and educational, cultural, social, and recreational experiences. Depending on scheduled events, the role may include night, weekend, and holiday responsibilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Three years of full-time, professional-level experience.
• Administrative and supervisory skills.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Competence in marketing, event planning, staff training and supervision, program development and evaluation, and computer software and applications, including scheduling software.
• Demonstrated positive attitude, flexibility, and commitment to teamwork.
• Knowledge of the concept of a student union within a university setting and of facility management.
• Ability to prioritize, organize, and independently manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Proven ability to work well in a team environment.
• Ability to assess information accurately, exercise good judgment, and make independent decisions.
• Ability to communicate professionally, diplomatically, empathetically, and tactfully by phone, in writing, and in person.
• Knowledge and use of audio/visual equipment.
• Experience with budgets and revenue-producing functions.
• Knowledge of sales and marketing, and/or graphic design experience.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree from an accredited university in Business, Student Affairs, Marketing, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the operations and activities of the Student Union.
• Support the Union’s provision of dining, events, and educational, cultural, social, and recreational experiences for the university community and surrounding community.
• Perform responsibilities that may include nights, weekends, and holidays based on scheduled events.
