About The Position

Caraway is seeking an experienced Director of Marketplaces to own the global Amazon and third-party marketplace channels. The role covers long-term planning, daily execution, and optimization, including advertising, SEO and organic ranking, forecasting, reporting and analytics, business operations, review generation, listings and account management, product detail page improvements, and brand and pricing integrity. The director will help shape how Caraway responds to marketplace changes, including AI-driven shopping, and will work in a fast-moving, data-driven, test-oriented environment. The role reports to the Chief Marketing Officer. The Director will lead marketplace strategy and performance while working closely with internal teams, agencies, platform partners, and Amazon contacts. The position includes ownership of revenue and margin growth, advertising and traffic, listings and conversion, pricing and assortment, brand protection, account health, inventory and fulfillment, launches, promotions, reviews, reporting, and exploration of new marketplaces and geographies. Caraway is a fully remote company with a distributed team. The anticipated base salary range is $160,000–$195,000, with final compensation dependent on factors including skills, qualifications, and experience.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of experience building, leading, and managing Amazon and marketplace channels for an eight-figure-plus Amazon business.
  • Deep hands-on Amazon Seller Central experience and a track record of P&L ownership, not solely campaign management.
  • Fluency across the Amazon ecosystem, including search and SEO, content, retail media (Sponsored Ads, DSP, and AMC), FBA and supply chain, and platform operations.
  • Practical, hands-on experience with organic ranking and review strategies.
  • Strong experience in inventory management, merchandising, listing optimization, margin management, and pricing.
  • Experience protecting brand pricing and positioning in a marketplace environment.
  • Experience managing agencies and cross-functional stakeholders while remaining hands-on with daily work.
  • Expertise with Amazon and marketplace tools such as Helium 10, SmartScout, Amazon Brand Analytics, and advertising management platforms.
  • Proficiency with analytics tools such as Looker, Excel, SQL, or Tableau.
  • A growth mindset and willingness to test ideas to uncover new opportunities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with international marketplaces.
  • Experience protecting pricing and positioning for a premium or DTC-heritage physical-product brand; housewares, kitchen, or adjacent categories are a plus.
  • Strong understanding of how email, SMS, influencers, affiliates, and paid advertising can drive outside traffic to Amazon.
  • Good instincts for product opportunities based on keyword research and customer insight.
  • A keen eye for new product development opportunities based on keyword research and customer insights.

Responsibilities

  • Lead global Amazon and marketplace P&L, set KPIs and targets, establish channel strategy, and drive sustainable revenue and margin growth.
  • Own in-platform advertising, including PPC, DSP, video, OTT, and Amazon Marketing Cloud, with a focus on organic ranking; coordinate external traffic from email, SMS, influencer, affiliate, and PR channels, and evaluate spend based on incrementality and contribution margin.
  • Coordinate with paid social and search teams to avoid competing against Caraway’s own marketing efforts.
  • Oversee marketplace product setup and listing content, including copy, imagery, keywords, attributes, and A+ content; own conversion strategy and testing.
  • Set marketplace pricing and assortment to complement rather than undercut Caraway’s DTC site and retail partners; enforce MAP and monitor unauthorized sellers, hijackers, and counterfeits.
  • Manage marketplace margin, account health, customer service experience, seller rating, and case logs.
  • Own FBA and FBM strategy, including inbound placement, inventory positioning, in-stock rates, and fee and freight costs; work with Finance and Inventory Planning on demand forecasts and update them as conditions change.
  • Plan and execute on-time Amazon product launches with internal and external teams.
  • Work directly with Amazon on incremental growth opportunities, such as shows, exclusive color drops, and bundles.
  • Own the promotional calendar, including Deal of the Day, Lightning Deals, coupons, and event deals, in collaboration with Marketing, Finance, and Ecommerce.
  • Build and run strategies to increase high-quality reviews and ratings; monitor customer reviews and use insights to improve products, listings, and customer service.
  • Partner with Data & Analytics to report on key Amazon metrics, identify insights, and implement improvements; build dashboards connecting marketplace results to company-wide revenue and marketing measurement, and present results, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Track competitors and marketplace changes, including algorithm updates, AI shopping features, fees, and policies.
  • Build relationships with the Amazon agency, other agencies and platform partners, Amazon contacts, and internal teams; determine over time which work should move in-house.
  • Evaluate new marketplace channels and geographies, including sequencing, localization, and operational setup.
