Director of Marketing

Trunk Tools, Inc.New York, NY
$235,000 - $280,000Hybrid

About The Position

At Trunk Tools, we’re the leading AI company revolutionizing construction, the second-largest industry on earth. We recently raised a $40M Series B led by Insight Partners, bringing our total funding to $70M from top-tier investors including Redpoint and Innovation Endeavors. This new round is fueling our next phase of growth as we scale AI agents across the jobsite. Our mission is to build the future of construction through intelligent automation. Despite being a $13+ trillion industry, construction still runs largely on analog processes, we’re changing that by embedding AI directly into field operations. Founded by builders and technologists (Stanford, MIT), our team has delivered software used by over 140,000 field professionals, impacting millions of users and contributing to $10B+ in built projects. Many of us come from the field ourselves, giving us a deep understanding of the industry’s unique challenges. After years of building the “brain” of construction, we’re now launching production-ready AI agents, starting with intelligent document processing and Q&A, and rapidly expanding into core operational workflows. Our team has doubled in the past year, and with 100+ employees (50+ engineers), we’re scaling fast and entering a period of hypergrowth. This is a rare opportunity to join at an inflection point. Location: New York City — in-person at our NYC HQ at least 3 days per week. About the role We're looking for a Director of Marketing to lead and scale Trunk Tools' marketing function. Reporting to the CEO, you'll partner closely with Product, Sales, CX, and Strategy to set our market narrative, drive demand, and turn marketing into a competitive advantage as we scale. You'll lead an existing marketing team spanning product marketing, brand, and field. Your job is to bring strategic clarity to a high-velocity environment, translate exec, customer, and market input into a coherent plan, and position an AI-native product credibly to a buyer who hasn't historically thought of themselves as a tech buyer.

Requirements

  • 7–10 years in B2B SaaS marketing, with deep roots in product marketing
  • You've operated at Series A–C stage and helped scale a marketing function, not just a team
  • Sales-led motion experience (not PLG-only); ideally in a niche or vertical SaaS environment
  • You can position an AI product credibly to a non-technical buyer — narrative is your home turf
  • You've built sales enablement, customer advocacy, and content engines that drive opportunities and revenue
  • You've worked with founder-CEOs and can navigate executive whiplash without losing the plot
  • You measure marketing on opportunities, bookings, and payback — and you act on what the data tells you
  • You operate AI-first: your team uses AI to compress cycles, scale content, and run experiments
  • You've hired, developed, and retained a marketing team

Nice To Haves

  • Vertical SaaS with a non-technical buyer persona (logistics, manufacturing, healthcare ops)
  • Track record building category narratives or analyst relations programs

Responsibilities

  • Define how Trunk shows up in the market. Own positioning, narrative, and messaging across the website, sales pitch, content, and analyst conversations.
  • Lead product marketing. Drive launches, GTM motions, sales enablement, and competitive intelligence in lockstep with Product.
  • Build the customer marketing engine. Turn our customers into our most powerful growth lever — case studies, references, advocacy, and expansion stories that compound.
  • Own full-funnel demand. Drive measurable pipeline and revenue. Measure on opportunities, bookings, and efficiency — not MQLs. Kill what doesn't work.
  • Shape brand and field strategy. Make Trunk the most recognized AI brand in construction. Direct field and events strategy that pulls customers and prospects together.
  • Lead and develop the marketing team. Set the operating model, raise the bar, and build a team that runs AI-first.
  • Operate at the exec level. Translate ambiguous input from across the leadership team into a sharp, prioritized plan — and hold your own when there's whiplash.

Benefits

  • A close-knit and collaborative early-stage startup environment where every voice is heard and every opinion matters
  • Competitive salary and stock option equity packages
  • 4 Medical Plans to choose from including 100% covered option. Plus Dental and Vision Insurance!
  • Learning & Growth stipend
  • Flexible long-term work options (remote and hybrid)
  • Free lunch provided in the office in NYC & Austin - you’ll never go hungry with us!
  • Unlimited PTO; We truly believe in work-life balance and that hard work should be balanced with time for rest and rejuvenation
  • IRL / In-Person retreats throughout the year
