About The Position

Provides a full range of direct professional and case management services to all shelter residents. This position will supervise the Case Managers at the Westside Men’s Shelter. This position will provide direction and oversight for case management services at the shelters.

Requirements

  • Minimum LMSW license required.
  • Possession of a valid license Maryland driver's license and reliable transportation required.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and theories of social work and human behavior.
  • Knowledge of diagnosis, treatment, and management of social, emotional, and mental dysfunctions.
  • Knowledge of current social, economic, and health problems.
  • Knowledge of individual, family, and group therapy dynamics and techniques.
  • Knowledge of social work programs, and program evaluation methods.
  • Knowledge of alternate and additional resources for shelter residents.
  • Skill in applying social work theories and principles to residents in shelter.
  • Skill in the development of effective interventions for individuals in providing crisis intervention.
  • Skill in interpreting and applying Federal, State, and local guidelines, regulations, and policies.
  • Skill in establishing rapport with shelter residents.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with all contacts.
  • Ability to assist in the evaluation of programs and services.
  • Ability to instruct and to set standards for case managers and other shelter staff as needed.
  • Ability to review and coordinate the work of others.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates, evaluates, and monitors individual cases.
  • Assists in developing individual service plans designed to prevent or alleviate personal or environmental problems of residents in a social services, health, or mental health program.
  • Determines suitability of individuals for special programs.
  • Provides crisis prevention and intervention services.
  • Develops and/or participates in public awareness and education programs.
  • Interprets policy and procedures of social services programs.
  • Assists in policy formation and assures that services assigned are carried out effectively by the case managers.
  • Consults with health, social work, and mental health professionals, concerning problems affecting recovery, welfare, and rehabilitation of shelter residents.
  • Acts as a liaison between health, education, welfare, and other community agencies to establish an integrated and coordinated program.
  • Prepares case files and other reports, memos, and correspondence.
  • Maintains accurate records of resident activities.
  • Facilitates, attends, and participates in meetings and conferences.
  • Works in conjunction with Shelter Manager and Assistant Manager in shelter matters regarding policies and procedures, staffing, residents, and other matters as needed.
