About The Position

Liberis is seeking a Director of Business Development to originate and close enterprise embedded finance partnerships across marketplaces, eCommerce, ISVs, payments, and shipping and logistics. The role owns major, complex opportunities and is accountable for building a strong pipeline and converting it into partnerships that support sustainable, profitable growth. The Director will use an established network and experience launching embedded lending, banking, and payments programs to engage senior decision-makers, shape opportunity priorities, and lead negotiations through to signed agreements. This is a senior individual contributor role. Working closely with a Business Development Manager and cross-functional colleagues, the Director will manage deals from first meeting through launch. The position combines strategic judgment with hands-on deal ownership and collaboration across Commercial, Product, Technology, Operations, Finance, Legal, and Risk to develop compelling propositions and successful partnerships.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of experience in enterprise sales, business development, or strategic partnerships, including significant experience selling embedded lending, banking, or payments solutions to enterprise platforms.
  • A proven record of personally originating and closing embedded finance programs, with signed clients or partnerships and measurable commercial results.
  • A strong track record of personally securing substantial B2B partnerships involving complex negotiations and multiple decision-makers.
  • Experience independently managing long enterprise deal cycles from origination through commercial agreement and launch.
  • An established network of senior contacts across marketplaces, eCommerce platforms, ISVs, payment providers (PSPs, acquirers, processors), and/or shipping and logistics companies, with the ability to open executive-level conversations.
  • Strong understanding of fintech, payments, SaaS, and embedded finance, and of how platforms monetise and serve small businesses.
  • Confidence assessing commercial models, including revenue share, referral, and funding economics; challenging assumptions; and translating opportunities into credible business cases.
  • Experience influencing senior internal and external stakeholders, including executives at large organisations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in small business lending, merchant cash advance, or revenue-based financing.
  • Familiarity with API and platform integrations, and with regulatory and risk considerations when offering financial products through a partner.

  • Build trusted relationships with executive stakeholders and navigate complex partner organisations and their product, payments, risk, legal, and finance teams.
  • Shape embedded lending, banking, and payments propositions that address partner priorities, meet merchant needs, and create attractive economics for Liberis.
  • Develop presentations, proposals, and commercial models to support partner decisions.
  • Lead commercial negotiations, balancing growth potential, profitability, delivery requirements, and risk.
  • Secure internal alignment, present business cases, and resolve barriers to progress.
  • Maintain reliable forecasts and communicate deal progress, key decisions, and risks to senior leadership.
  • Work with implementation and partner management teams to ensure commitments are achievable and partnerships are set up to deliver.
  • Bring market and partner insight to decisions about product development, competitive positioning, and expansion.
