About The Position

Seeking is hiring a hands-on Director or Senior Director of Brand & Creative Marketing to lead the brand side of its marketing organization. The role owns brand marketing strategy, positioning, messaging, audience strategy, and overall brand direction, while leading an approximately 13-person team spanning PR, Creative, Production, Copy, Social, Influencer Marketing, and related brand initiatives. The leader translates company goals into executable plans, establishes accountability, and ensures marketing work contributes to business performance. The position partners closely with Seeking’s Co-CEOs and works as a peer to the Director of Growth & Lifecycle Marketing. It owns brand campaigns, PR, creative, consumer insights, social, influencer marketing, brand activations, and the brand marketing budget, while collaborating with Growth on company goals, audience strategy, acquisition, campaign performance, the marketing calendar, and overall business growth. This is an involved operating role: the Director sets direction and develops the team while personally stepping in to improve concepts, messaging, pitches, briefs, negotiations, and other high-priority work when needed. The Director leads integrated campaigns from insight and concept through production, launch, measurement, and retrospective; oversees PR narrative, cultural relevance, reputation, and crisis communications; and manages planning, operating processes, budgets, vendors, agencies, and external partners. The role requires strong commercial judgment, creative and copy judgment, and the ability to make decisions and adapt quickly in a lean, fast-moving environment. A portfolio must be submitted to be considered.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of progressive marketing experience; exceptional candidates may be considered based on demonstrated scope and trajectory rather than years alone.
  • At least 4 years of meaningful people-management experience, including managing managers or senior functional leaders.
  • Demonstrated experience across both brand marketing and PR/communications.
  • Strong experience developing and executing integrated consumer marketing campaigns.
  • Experience in a startup, high-growth environment, agency environment, or similarly fast-moving business, with the ability to work urgently amid rapid execution, shifting priorities, and tight deadlines.
  • Experience owning or meaningfully managing substantial marketing budgets.
  • Experience working with agencies, production companies, creators, talent, vendors, and external partners.
  • Working knowledge of campaign production from concept through delivery and distribution.
  • Exceptional copy judgment and ability to provide meaningful feedback on advertising, PR, social, influencer scripts, campaign messaging, and brand communications.
  • Strong negotiation skills and sound commercial judgment.
  • Experience creating structure, processes, and accountability within growing or evolving teams.
  • Comfort making difficult decisions with incomplete information.
  • Ability to work effectively with founders and senior executives who are highly engaged in the brand.
  • Confidence to challenge executive recommendations when data, customer insight, or strategy supports another direction.
  • Submit a portfolio to be considered for the role.

Nice To Haves

  • Marketplace or two-sided consumer platform experience.
  • Experience with culturally provocative, unconventional, entertainment, lifestyle, dating, or otherwise conversation-driving brands.

Responsibilities

  • Own Seeking’s brand marketing strategy, positioning, messaging, audience strategy, and overall brand direction.
  • Translate company objectives into quarterly and annual marketing priorities, initiatives, OKRs, budgets, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Develop marketing strategy in partnership with the Co-CEOs and progressively assume greater ownership as alignment and trust are established.
  • Develop strategies to reach both sides of Seeking’s marketplace and identify untapped audiences, market opportunities, positioning gaps, and competitive opportunities.
  • Own consumer research, competitive intelligence, campaign learnings, and brand insights; use performance and priorities to determine what to increase, change, or stop.
  • Originate and lead major integrated brand campaigns from insight through strategy, concept, execution, launch, measurement, and post-campaign analysis.
  • Define campaign objectives, audiences, strategic insights, messaging, channels, success metrics, budgets, responsibilities, and execution plans.
  • Coordinate with Creative, Production, PR, Social, Influencer, Digital Marketing, Product, Legal, and external partners to bring campaigns to market.
  • Contribute campaign ideas and evaluate concepts, scripts, copy, messaging, creative direction, activations, partnerships, and channel plans.
  • Lead campaign production, including talent, agencies, production partners, shoots, post-production, rollout, media requirements, legal considerations, and timelines.
  • Own brand marketing performance and monitor relevant company and marketing KPIs, including joins, revenue, CAC, ROAS, conversion, brand search, campaign performance, social growth, influencer performance, and earned media.
  • Diagnose underperforming initiatives and adjust budgets, resources, priorities, or strategy; maximize returns from productions and activations, including by creating additional revenue-driving content within existing budgets.
  • Establish measurement frameworks connecting brand initiatives to commercial outcomes, including brand health; partner with the Director of Growth & Lifecycle Marketing on acquisition and funnel performance.
  • Lead campaign and quarterly retrospectives and turn learnings into concrete changes.
  • Set Seeking’s overarching PR narrative and cultural positioning; lead the PR organization’s strategy, angles, pitches, media opportunities, partnerships, spokesperson positioning, and execution.
  • Develop differentiated stories and respond to cultural conversations while protecting the business and brand; strengthen angles, headlines, pitches, talking points, or narratives when needed.
  • Build and develop an internal PR function, and own reputation and crisis communications in partnership with the Co-CEOs and Legal.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and hold accountable an approximately 13-person brand marketing organization, including managers and senior individual contributors.
  • Establish clear ownership, expectations, goals, accountability, and decision-making authority; assess talent, coach employees, support development, and make personnel recommendations as needed.
  • Identify organizational gaps and recommend changes to structure, roles, hiring plans, agencies, contractors, or external resources; participate in recruiting, hiring, performance management, and termination decisions.
  • Build a culture that combines empathy and development with high performance standards.
  • Own the integrated marketing calendar with the Director of Growth & Lifecycle Marketing; set department priorities and determine what proceeds, is delayed, re-scoped, or stopped.
  • Turn initiatives into defined workstreams, owners, milestones, dependencies, budgets, timelines, and success metrics; build and improve marketing operating processes.
  • Establish processes for briefs, campaign development, research, creative concepting, moodboards, reviews, approvals, production, PR planning, launch readiness, asset delivery, reporting, and postmortems.
  • Ensure teams are involved at the right stages, remove bottlenecks, clarify ownership, and keep initiatives moving without requiring the Co-CEOs to manage day-to-day execution.
  • Own and manage a significant seven-figure brand marketing budget; build annual and quarterly budgets and allocate resources to high-value opportunities.
  • Track commitments, actual spend, forecasts, and ROI; evaluate spend based on strategic importance and expected return, challenge unnecessary expenses, and seek better outcomes with available resources.
  • Oversee agencies, production partners, talent, influencers, vendors, sponsorships, and other external relationships; lead or oversee high-stakes negotiations.
  • Work as a peer with the Director of Growth & Lifecycle Marketing and jointly plan around company goals, audience strategy, campaign performance, acquisition, landing-page effectiveness, creative performance, the marketing calendar, and business growth.
  • Personally get involved when major campaigns, pitches, messaging, briefs, negotiations, or other important initiatives need senior attention, while coaching and challenging the team rather than taking over its work.
