About The Position

Under the direction of the Associate Vice President for Student Health & Wellness and consistent with applicable CSU Executive Orders and Trustee policies governing university health services, the Director of Medical Services provides clinical and administrative leadership for Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS) Medical Services. The Director oversees the delivery of high-quality, student-centered medical services; assesses student health and wellness needs; develops and implements clinical programs, policies, procedures, and protocols; and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and CSU regulatory, accreditation, ethical, and licensing requirements. The Director of Medical Services also maintains an appropriate direct patient care load to meet student needs and to provide clinical supervision and consultation to SHCS medical personnel. This is a full-time, exempt position in the Management Personnel Plan (MPP). MPP positions serve at the pleasure of the President.

Requirements

  • Administrator III classification
  • Must successfully meet and pass a pre-employment medical examination and drug screen.
  • The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
  • This position is a "designated position" in the California State University's Conflict of Interest Code. The incumbent in this position is required to file Conflict of Interest forms subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.

Responsibilities

  • Provides clinical and administrative leadership for Student Health & Counseling Services (SHCS) Medical Services.
  • Oversees the delivery of high-quality, student-centered medical services.
  • Assesses student health and wellness needs.
  • Develops and implements clinical programs, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and CSU regulatory, accreditation, ethical, and licensing requirements.
  • Maintains an appropriate direct patient care load to meet student needs.
  • Provides clinical supervision and consultation to SHCS medical personnel.
  • Coordinate on-site implementation of SB 24 legally mandated medical abortion services.
