About The Position

Redwood Family Care Network is hiring compassionate providers to support adults and adolescents with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Direct Support Staff member assists clients with daily living, personal care, meal preparation, routines, and independent-skill development in settings such as homes or schools. The role is part-time in Pomona, California, with shifts on Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The hourly rate is $19.00–$20.00, with a $500 sign-on bonus paid after 90 days of employment. Remote work is not available.

Requirements

• At least 1 year of experience supporting adults with seizures.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Valid California driver’s license.
• Successfully pass pre-employment requirements, including a background check.
• Current First Aid/CPR certification.
• Able to lift 50 pounds.
• Able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities is preferred.
• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification is preferred, or the willingness to obtain it within the first 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Outline and prepare clients’ daily routines, as written in their Individual Program Plans.
• Support residents’ needs and goals by participating in the development of IPP/ISP goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment for clients.
• Take clients to visit family and friends and to preferred leisure and recreation activities, and encourage socializing with peers.
• Assist clients with grooming, bathroom needs, changing undergarments or clothing, bathing, dressing, and other personal care.
• Help clients develop independent skills through self-care activities, including toileting, clothing routines, and personal hygiene.
• Prepare daily meals and assist with cleanup.
• Transport clients in a personal vehicle when needed; mileage is reimbursed.
• Report incidents or problems and communicate daily with administrators.
• Perform other assigned duties.
