About The Position

Indera is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional to provide one-to-one support to a 72-year-old man in Chittenango, New York. The role supports his independence and quality of life by helping him take part in community activities, build money-management skills, and develop daily living skills. He enjoys meeting people, interactive activities, shopping for personal needs, and visiting places for coffee or breakfast. The ideal candidate is creative, engaging, active, and patient, and is willing to travel to community locations and help him explore new interests and become more comfortable managing money. The schedule is Monday through Wednesday, from 9 a.m. to an end time to be determined. A session may not exceed six hours because the individual lives in an IRA. Additional hours may be available supporting other people receiving services at the agency. Starting pay is $19.25 per hour, with increases based on years of relevant experience.

Requirements

Must have a valid driver's license.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Effective communication and organizational skills are required.
Flexibility with assignments and schedule is required.
Must have reliable transportation to arrive at the job site on time.
Must have technology available to download multiple apps for use in the community and comply with Indera's technology policy.

Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred.
