About The Position

A Direct Support Professional is needed to provide 1:1, part-time support to a 14-year-old male in the Oneida, NY area. The role supports community activities, identifying safety issues, and developing positive communication skills. The individual enjoys meeting new people, participating in interactive activities, and spending more time in the community, including bowling, sports, and other physical activities.

The ideal candidate is creative, engaging, active, and patient; willing to travel to different community locations; and able to help the individual explore new activities and interests and feel more comfortable in the community. Services cannot begin before 3 p.m. because of school. Days and hours are open, and additional hours may be available supporting other people receiving services. Starting pay is $19.25 per hour and increases with years of relevant experience.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work independently in the person's home and/or community.
• Reliable, with effective communication and organizational skills.
• Flexibility with assignments and schedule.
• Reliable transportation to arrive at the job site as scheduled.
• Valid New York State driver's license, proof of auto insurance, and an acceptable driving record.
• Must have technology available to download multiple apps for community use and abide by Indera's technology policy.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with people with disabilities or developmental disabilities is preferred; no experience is required.
