About The Position

A Direct Support Professional is needed to provide one-to-one, part-time support to a 73-year-old woman in the Chittenango, New York area. The role involves assisting her with community activities and identifying safety skills. She enjoys meeting new people, interactive activities, coloring, bingo, visiting the library, seeing movies, and shopping. The ideal candidate is creative, engaging, active, patient, and willing to travel to different community locations. The position also involves helping her explore new activities and interests and feel more comfortable while out in the community.

Work is scheduled Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting at 10 a.m.; the end time is to be determined. A session cannot exceed six hours because the individual lives in an IRA. Additional hours may be available supporting other people receiving services through the agency. Starting pay is $19.25 per hour and increases with years of relevant experience.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Ability to work independently in the individual's home and/or community.
• Reliable, with effective communication and organizational skills.
• Valid New York State driver's license and acceptable driving record.
• Reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance.
• Technology available to download multiple apps used in the community.
• Flexibility with assignments and schedule.
• Must abide by Indera's technology policy.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with people with disabilities or developmental disabilities is preferred; no experience is required.
