About The Position

Gallagher Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they pursue their goals, engage in activities they enjoy, and build vibrant, independent lives. The role involves spending time with a group of individuals through activities such as bingo, movies, music, art, and reading, while building genuine connections and being present and supportive. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The DSP supports community engagement, accompanies people during family visits and milestones, advocates for their rights and confidence, and maintains clear, respectful records to support continuity of care. The work is grounded in trauma-informed care and treats each person with dignity, compassion, and respect.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years old.
Valid driver's license with at least two years of driving experience and no more than three points.
Comfortable driving agency vehicles and assisting people who use wheelchairs.
Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed.
Completion of a Medication Technician Training Program, or willingness to complete it.
Kindness, dependability, good communication, and enjoyment of spending time with people.

Responsibilities

Support individuals in activities they enjoy, such as bingo, watching movies, listening to music, creating art, and reading.
Support community engagement, including walks in parks and attending local events.
Be present and supportive during family visits, milestones, and everyday moments.
Advocate for each person's rights and help build confidence and a sense of self.
Maintain clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support.
Drive agency vehicles and assist people who use wheelchairs.
Provide physical assistance when needed.
