Direct Support Professional - FT Mornings
About The Position
Gallagher Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they pursue their goals, engage in activities they enjoy, and build meaningful relationships. The role involves supporting a group of individuals with activities such as playing bingo, watching movies, listening to music, creating art, and reading. The DSP will also help individuals participate in community activities, provide companionship during personal and family moments, advocate for their rights and confidence, and maintain clear, respectful records to support continuity of care. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The stated pay range is $20.00–$20.50 per hour, depending on years of experience.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Valid driver’s license and at least two years of driving experience, with no more than three points.
- Comfortable driving agency vehicles.
- Able to assist people who use wheelchairs.
- Able to lift up to 75 pounds, stand for long periods, and provide physical assistance when needed.
- Completion of a Medication Technician Training Program or willingness to complete it.
- Kindness, dependability, good communication skills, and enjoyment of spending time with the people supported.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals with activities and interests such as bingo, movies, music, coloring, crafts, and reading.
- Support community engagement, including walks in parks and attendance at local events.
- Provide companionship and support during family visits, milestones, and everyday moments.
- Advocate for each person’s rights and help build confidence and self-esteem.
- Maintain clear, respectful records to ensure continuity of care and support.
- Assist people who use wheelchairs and provide physical assistance when needed.
