About The Position

Easterseals PORT Health is hiring a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) with everyday living tasks and personal goals. The position provides care in the individual's home and community.

The DSP assists with housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, cleaning, personal care, and employment support. The role may also involve transporting clients to appointments, running errands, helping plan and organize schedules, and documenting and reporting daily information in an electronic health system of record.

This is a part-time position in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a schedule of every other weekend from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. and every other Monday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. Compensation is $17.00 per hour. Entry-level applicants are welcome, and on-the-job training is provided.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocol knowledge.
• Interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and dependability.
• Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems or the ability to learn them.
• Reliable transportation, a driver's license, and current auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the individual's home and community.
• Assist with housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning.
• Provide personal care, including bathing, dressing, toileting, and changing diapers.
• Provide employment support.
• Transport clients to appointments and run errands as needed.
• Help plan and organize the individual's schedule.
• Complete daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
