About The Position

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at LSS, you’ll provide person-centered support to people with identified needs as they pursue their hopes, dreams, and goals. The position is in a residential group home setting supporting up to four people, as part of a collaborative, mission-driven team focused on dignity, respect, and inclusion. The schedule is every other weekend. Pay is $17.00 per hour, with an opportunity to obtain a wage increase to $17.50 per hour after six months of consistent employment. A $1,000 hiring bonus is offered subject to eligibility requirements: working at least 40% FTE, remaining current on all trainings, maintaining employment in good standing, and working all scheduled shifts. No prior experience or formal education is required; LSS provides training and support. The role may suit caregivers and others interested in supporting people, and can be a starting point for careers in social work, nursing, healthcare, human services, psychology, and nonprofits.

Requirements

A genuine passion for helping people with identified needs pursue their hopes, dreams, and goals through person-centered care.
Comfort with basic computer use for documenting care and communicating with the team.
Ability to read and write in English.
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record, and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Check.
Ability to pass a DHS background check.
To qualify for the hiring bonus: work at least 40% FTE, remain up to date on all trainings, maintain employment in good standing, and work all scheduled shifts.

Responsibilities

Build meaningful relationships while providing guidance, encouragement, and support.
Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, hygiene, meals, household support and cleaning, and transportation.
Support community involvement, social connections, and independent living skills.
Advocate for the rights, needs, and preferences of people with identified needs.
Monitor health and well-being and report changes as needed.
Complete required documentation and participate in training and team meetings.
