About The Position

The Direct Support Professional Residential Overnight assists in providing self-care training, therapeutic treatments, and assistance with daily living to developmentally disabled individuals attending ACHIEVE’s respite facility. Residential staff provide 24-hour supervision, care, and guidance to residents, including help with personal care, cleaning, cooking, medications, and activities. This is a full-time, awake overnight position in Chittenango, New York.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid New York State driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
Ability to lift and assist with up to 50 pounds, including transfers and physical support.

Responsibilities

Remain awake throughout the shift and avoid situations conducive to sleep.
Continuously assess the physical building and residents throughout the shift.
Provide individualized care as outlined in each individual’s Life Plan or ISP.
Support residents’ safety and well-being.
Observe, document, and communicate pertinent information, including behaviors and nursing, nutrition, or clinical issues, to facilitate assessment and treatment-goal development.
Administer medications as prescribed by a physician and in accordance with OPWDD regulations.
Lead therapeutic activities, such as physical exercises, occupational arts and crafts, and recreational games, and document them accordingly.
Demonstrate and assist with bathing, dressing, and other daily self-care practices.
Document residential habilitation services according to the individual plan and agency procedures.
Converse with residents to reinforce positive behaviors and promote social interaction.
Prepare and serve meals and dine with residents as a role model.
Assist residents with mobility, hygiene, and other tasks requiring assistance or direction.
