About The Position

The Direct Support Professional works overnight in ACHIEVE’s residential program, supporting individuals with developmental disabilities at the agency’s respite facility. The role provides self-care training, therapeutic treatments, and assistance with daily living. Residential staff provide supervision, care, and guidance, including support with personal care, cleaning, cooking, medications, and activities. This is a full-time, awake overnight position in Chittenango, New York, paying $20.00, with a sign-on bonus of up to $1,000.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid New York State driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
• Ability to lift and assist with up to 50 pounds, including transfers and physical support.

Responsibilities

• Remain awake throughout the shift and avoid situations conducive to sleeping.
• Continuously assess the condition of the building and the individuals throughout the shift.
• Provide individualized care as outlined in each individual’s Life Plan or ISP.
• Support residents’ safety and well-being.
• Observe, document, and communicate relevant information, including behaviors and nursing, nutrition, or clinical issues, to support assessment and treatment-goal development.
• Administer medications as prescribed by a physician and in accordance with OPWDD regulations.
• Lead and document therapeutic activities, such as physical exercises, arts and crafts, and recreational games.
• Demonstrate and assist with bathing, dressing, and other daily self-care practices.
• Document residential habilitation services according to the individual plan and agency procedures.
• Talk with residents to reinforce positive behaviors and promote social interaction.
• Prepare and serve meals and dine with residents as a role model.
• Assist residents with mobility, hygiene, and other tasks requiring assistance or direction.
