About The Position

The Arc of Opportunity is seeking Direct Support Professionals to support individuals with developmental disabilities. The role focuses on advocating for individuals, helping them pursue their fullest potential, and improving their quality of life. The schedule is Sunday through Tuesday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, for 24 hours per week. Pay is $20.81 per hour, or $21.85 per hour with MAP certification.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Active and valid driver’s license.
• Ability to pass background checks.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and sustain periods of sitting or standing.
• Ability to assist in a restraint if needed.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in substance abuse or mental health.
• MAP certification, which qualifies for the higher stated hourly rate.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for individuals served and demonstrate the agency’s values and mission in interactions.
• Use knowledge of and interests in the community to empower individuals and enhance their quality of life.
• Implement Individual Service Plans.
• Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including household tasks and chores.
• Assist individuals with appointments, including driving the agency’s van.
• Present oneself respectfully and professionally in all interactions.
• Attend required trainings and apply the knowledge gained at work.
• Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
