About The Position

The Arc of Opportunity is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional to support individuals with developmental disabilities and help them reach their fullest potential. The role advocates for the individuals served, supports their daily living and community participation, and implements their Individual Service Plans. The scheduled hours are Friday and Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., for 16 hours per week. Pay is $20.81 per hour, or $21.85 per hour with MAP certification. Current staff referrals are eligible for a $1,500 referral bonus.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Active and valid driver’s license.
Ability to pass background checks.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and sustain periods of sitting or standing.
Ability to assist in a restraint if needed.

Nice To Haves

Experience in substance abuse or mental health.
MAP certification, associated with the higher stated hourly rate.

Responsibilities

Advocate for individuals served and demonstrate the agency’s values and mission in interactions.
Use knowledge of and interests in the community to empower individuals and enhance their quality of life.
Implement Individual Service Plans.
Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including household tasks and chores.
Assist individuals with appointments, including driving the agency’s van.
Interact respectfully and professionally.
Attend required trainings and apply the knowledge gained at work.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
