About The Position

The Arc of Opportunity is seeking Direct Support Professionals to support individuals with developmental disabilities and help them reach their fullest potential. The role involves advocating for individuals, implementing their Individual Service Plans, supporting daily living activities, and helping them participate in the community. Staff may assist with appointments by driving the Agency’s van and are expected to communicate professionally and attend required trainings. The schedule is Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., totaling 36 hours per week. Pay is $20.81 per hour, or $21.85 per hour with MAP certification. Current staff are eligible for a $1,500 referral bonus. The Arc of Opportunity is an equal opportunity employer and provides an accommodation process for applicants with disabilities.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Active and valid driver’s license.
Ability to pass background checks.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and sustain periods of sitting or standing.
Ability to assist in a restraint if needed.

Nice To Haves

Experience in substance abuse or mental health.
MAP certification, which corresponds to the higher stated hourly rate.

Responsibilities

Advocate for individuals served and demonstrate the Agency’s values and mission in interactions.
Use knowledge and interests in the community to empower individuals and enhance their quality of life.
Implement Individual Service Plans.
Assist individuals with activities of daily living, including household tasks and chores.
Assist individuals with appointments, including driving the Agency’s van.
Present in a respectful and professional manner in all interactions.
Attend all trainings and apply the knowledge gained throughout the work.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
