About The Position

Wall Residences is seeking full-time, experienced Direct Support Professionals for Supported Living and In-Home Care services in the Bumpass (Louisa County) and Montpelier (Hanover County), Virginia areas. DSPs support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities, helping them with domestic tasks, personal care, transportation, medical and dental appointments, medication administration, advocacy, and opportunities to participate in volunteer activities. Successful candidates are detail-oriented and able to maintain accurate notes to support continuity of quality care. Employment is dependent on references and a criminal background check free of barrier crimes. Employees are mandated reporters of abuse and neglect involving individuals with disabilities.

Requirements

Experience as a Direct Support Professional; the posting seeks experienced candidates.
Active driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
At least 3 years of driving experience.
No more than 2 moving violations or accidents within the past 3 years.
No major violations within the past 5 years.
References and a criminal background check free of barrier crimes are required.

Responsibilities

Assist individuals with laundry, cleaning, meal planning, cooking, and organizing.
Help individuals explore volunteer opportunities and enrich their lives.
Support individuals’ personal care needs.
Provide transportation and advocacy for medical and dental appointments.
Assist with medication administration.
Keep accurate notes to ensure continuity of quality care.
Report suspected abuse and neglect as mandated.
