The Direct Support Professional works on an interdisciplinary team that delivers superior quality of service and provides appropriate activities in a safe and healthy environment within the home and community setting. Essential duties include assisting clients in basic living skills and daily personal tasks such as showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, preparing and planning meals, and financial budgeting. The role also involves providing transportation to and from activities and appointments, maintaining good communication between staff regarding client needs and progress, and accurately completing all required documentation. This position requires strict adherence to documentation and record-keeping for FTA vehicles and compliance with Medicaid guidelines. The Direct Support Professional is responsible for reporting incidents and emergencies immediately, assisting in the formulation and management of the client’s Plan of Care, and following proper medication management guidelines. Additionally, the role involves organizing recreational activities, acting as a positive role model, treating clients and families with dignity and respect, and assisting in the maintenance of facilities and vehicles. Attending necessary training and continuing education is also required. This is a safety-sensitive position that requires maintaining confidentiality of all information.
