About The Position

People Creating Success is hiring a Direct Support Professional / Personal Attendant to support adults with developmental disabilities in its supported living and independent living service programs in Santa Maria. The role focuses on building genuine relationships, promoting independence, and helping participants pursue meaningful daily, social, and community activities.

The position is part-time, with a listed schedule of Tuesdays, Fridays, and weekends (flexible), at $20.25 per hour. Mileage reimbursement and a $10 monthly cell phone stipend are offered. Health care benefits and paid time off are available if an employee transitions to full-time employment.

Requirements

• Compassion and a person-centered mindset.
• Ability to communicate with dignity and respect, especially during challenging moments.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Responsible approach and ability to assist with tracking progress toward goals.
• CPR/First Aid certification; training will be provided if the candidate is not certified or needs recertification.

• Weekend availability is a plus but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Support participants with daily living skills, including cleaning, cooking, and budgeting.
• Encourage and model independence, hobbies, and social activities.
• Help participants access and participate in community activities.
• Assist with personal care, including medication support, hygiene, and bathing; lifting or transferring may be required.
• Collaborate with participants on person-centered care planning.
• Record progress toward care-plan goals.
• Support individuals through heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, and sensory overload using proactive redirection and calming techniques.
• Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed shift logs and progress notes.
