About The Position

People Creating Success is hiring a Direct Support Professional / Personal Attendant to support adults with developmental disabilities in its supported living and independent living service programs in Santa Barbara and Goleta. The role focuses on building genuine relationships, empowering participants, supporting their independence, and helping them pursue interests and participate in their communities. The position is offered part-time or full-time at $20.25 per hour, with flexible shifts ranging from morning, evening, and overnight.

Requirements

• Compassionate and person-centered mindset.
• Ability to communicate with dignity and respect, especially during challenging moments.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Responsible and able to assist with tracking progress toward goals.
• CPR/First Aid certification; training will be provided if the candidate is not certified or needs recertification.

Responsibilities

• Support participants with daily living skills, including cleaning, cooking, and budgeting.
• Encourage and model independence, hobbies, and social activities.
• Assist participants in accessing and participating in community activities.
• Assist with personal care, including medication support, hygiene, and bathing; lifting or transferring may be required.
• Collaborate with participants on person-centered care planning.
• Record progress toward care-plan goals.
• Support individuals through heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, and sensory overload using proactive redirection and calming techniques.
• Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed shift logs and progress notes.
