About The Position

People Creating Success is hiring a Direct Support Professional to work in its supported living and independent living service programs in Santa Maria. The role supports adults with developmental disabilities in building independence, pursuing hobbies and social activities, developing daily living skills, and participating in community life. The position is part-time, pays $20.25 per hour, and includes mileage reimbursement and a $10 monthly cell phone stipend. The stated schedule is Tuesdays, Fridays, and weekends, with flexibility. Health care benefits and paid time off are available if the employee transitions to full-time employment.

Requirements

• Compassionate, person-centered approach.
• Ability to communicate with dignity and respect, especially during challenging moments.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Responsible and able to assist with tracking progress toward goals.
• CPR and First Aid certification; training will be provided if the candidate is not certified or needs recertification.

• Weekend availability is a plus but is not required.

Responsibilities

• Support participants with daily living skills, including cleaning, cooking, and budgeting.
• Encourage and model independence, hobbies, and social activities.
• Assist participants in accessing and participating in community activities.
• Assist with personal care, including medication support, hygiene, and bathing; lifting or transferring may be required.
• Collaborate with participants on person-centered care planning.
• Record progress toward care-plan goals.
• Support individuals during heightened emotional responses, complex behaviors, and sensory overload using proactive redirection and calming techniques.
• Recognize early signs of stress or escalation and guide individuals through personalized self-regulation strategies.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed shift logs and progress notes.
