About The Position

Spectrum Security Services, Inc. is seeking to hire a Detention Officer (DO) to provide security and support services for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The role involves escorting and supervising detainees under the jurisdiction of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Due to the position being one of public trust, a thorough background check is required by ICE, which may take between 2 to 4 months to complete.

Requirements

• Prior experience guarding prisoners and detainees as a correctional officer, jailer, or detention officer, and conducted transportation activities.
• A minimum of one-year experience in law enforcement or military police; OR Six months of experience as a security officer engaged in functions related to detaining civil or administrative detainees; OR A two-year college degree or related professional training, and six months of experience as a security officer.
• Licensed Commercial Driving experience with air brakes and passenger endorsement.
• Pass a medical examination and be free of serious physical ailments such as epilepsy, heart, lung, and skeletal defects.
• Have no criminal record.
• Have no illegal substance use history.
• Have a good driving record without serious infractions.
• Have a good credit history.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Be registered through BSIS as an Armed Security Guard.
• Possess current valid certifications for training in First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogens.
• Pass the DHS background investigation prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide security and support services for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
• Escort and supervise detainees under the jurisdiction of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
• Accept challenging duties in environments such as hospitals, psychiatric institutions, hotels, and federal facilities.
• Work on-call and accept sporadic assignments.
