About The Position

Rise & Shine is revolutionizing the care of our communities' most vulnerable populations. We are looking for a dynamic Direct Support Professional who is aligned with our mission and has empathy for our unique client population. We seek an organized, detail-oriented individual with a positive attitude who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving, startup-like environment. You must be able to multitask and adapt to new ideas and changes. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will work as part of a team to provide support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in the Springfield area. At Rise & Shine, DSPs help clients live meaningful and rewarding lives. This includes assistance with activities of daily living, medication administration, and advocacy.

Requirements

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass Oregon state criminal background check.
  • Must possess basic computer knowledge and be able to complete documentation electronically.
  • Must be able to remain awake and alert for the entire shift.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds, bend, and/or squat.
  • Must be able to climb up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must have flexibility to work in different locations depending on where additional support is needed during your weekly schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years of experience as a DSP or CNA (preferred, not required)
  • Experience utilizing Therap (preferred, not required)

Responsibilities

  • Support clients with activities of daily living, such as personal care and health management, communication, achieving personal and educational goals, meal planning and preparation, shopping, housekeeping, basic home maintenance and safety, home management, financial management, community involvement, developing meaningful relationships, and decision-making.
  • Transport individuals in company vehicles or via public transportation.
  • Advocate for the rights of the individuals we support.
  • Assist in the creation of Individual Support Plans (ISPs) and Behavioral Support Plans (BSPs).
  • Administer medications to clients requiring this type of support.
  • Perform documentation in Therap and maintain records as required.
  • Report suspected neglect or abuse in accordance with OAR requirements.
  • Comply with Individual Support Plans and Behavioral Support Plans that have been developed to support client safety and well-being, particularly concerning violent behaviors.
  • Attend all team meetings and required trainings.
  • Train and welcome new staff members in the homes.
