Direct Care Aide
About The Position
Mariah's Family Care Home (MFCH) operates group homes providing supportive services to adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Its programs help residents function successfully in family, group-living, and community settings. The Direct Care Aide provides direct care to residents with mental disabilities, supporting their well-being, mental health coping skills, and behavior management. The role also includes personal care, housekeeping, meal preparation, errands, and recreational activities. The position is offered full-time on first, second, and third shifts. Starting pay is $16 per hour or more, based on experience and shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with mental health and/or behavioral clients.
- Complete a drug screening and background check.
- A caring, consistent personality and comfort with structured, disciplined routines.
Nice To Haves
- CBRF certification.
- Driver’s license; preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of best practices in providing care and experience in a similar role.
Responsibilities
- Provide assistance, comfort, and care for residents with behavioral needs.
- Administer medication and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Monitor clients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report changes.
- Develop residents’ mental health coping skills and manage their behavior.
- Provide personal hygiene care, perform housekeeping duties, and prepare meals.
- Assist with incontinence products or bathroom visits.
- Run errands, including shopping for groceries and basic household items.
- Participate in recreational activities with residents.
- Accompany clients on trips, such as medical appointments.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe environment.
