About The Position

Mystic Seaport Museum is seeking a digital-forward marketing manager to oversee their website, marketing automation, and campaign execution. This is a hands-on role for a capable generalist who is comfortable with various marketing tools and quick to learn new ones. The successful candidate will take full ownership of the Museum’s website and marketing automation, ensure campaigns are on track, and manage one direct report. The role requires someone who can work independently and deliver high-quality results, collaborating with the marketing team and other departments across the Museum to support their initiatives. The manager will also coordinate with external agencies and lead the Social Media Specialist, providing guidance and analyzing social metrics. The position involves contributing to various aspects of the marketing mix, from campaign execution to social and content support.

Requirements

  • Three to six years of marketing experience with hands-on work across website, email automation, and project management.
  • Experience as a digital-forward generalist, not a single-channel specialist.
  • Experience coordinating external vendors or agencies and holding their work to a standard.
  • Working comfort with analytics and reporting, including GA4 and Google Tag Manager.
  • Adaptable and a fast self-teacher, comfortable with a wide range of tools or confident in learning new platforms.
  • Clear communicator, self-directed, and resourceful.
  • Readiness to manage and develop a direct report.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Prospect2 (or ActiveCampaign), Donate2, ClickUp (or similar project management software), WordPress.
  • Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals.
  • Experience in a nonprofit, cultural, membership-based, or other mission-driven organization.
  • Direct experience supervising, managing, or formally mentoring a team member.
  • Comfortable using AI-assisted marketing tools.

Responsibilities

  • Run marketing automation in Prospect2, including building, segmenting, and optimizing email journeys and lifecycle campaigns.
  • Own and maintain the website (WordPress), including making updates, building and optimizing landing pages, and reviewing performance.
  • Improve team workflows and systems, including in project management tools like ClickUp.
  • Partner with departments across the Museum to support their marketing needs for programs, exhibitions, and events.
  • Coordinate with external agencies, briefing work, reviewing deliverables, and ensuring brand and accuracy standards.
  • Manage and develop one direct report, the Museum’s Social Media Specialist, by setting priorities, giving feedback, and analyzing social metrics.
  • Contribute to various aspects of the marketing mix, including campaign execution, social media, and content support.
