About The Position

The Diet Aide II performs cashiering duties and serves food to cafeteria, grill, and DDCI café customers in a polite and courteous manner. The role includes stocking supplies, keeping food-service and dining areas clean and orderly, and providing quality customer service. The Diet Aide maintains a calm and positive demeanor during busy or unusual periods, anticipates customer needs, and follows food-service, cash-handling, safety, security, and sanitation procedures. The position may involve contact with patients and work in a congested area with heat, noise, wet floors, steam, water, cleaning chemicals, glass breakage, and sharp knives.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, follow written and verbal directions, and perform simple math tasks.
• Willingness and ability to learn other tasks and duties, including policies and procedures for cash handling, cleaning, sanitation, safety, cash-register operation, and food and beverage equipment.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
• Ability to lift 30 pounds or more during a shift.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduation or equivalent is preferred.
• Barista experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform cashiering duties and reconcile the cashier report each shift to ensure cash balances are correct.
• Serve cafeteria, grill, and DDCI café customers politely and courteously, maintaining a customer-first attitude.
• Anticipate customer needs and provide consistent, quality service and food and beverage products.
• Keep food and supplies stocked and food-service equipment clean and sanitized.
• Keep cafeteria, DDCI café, grill, dining room, and workspace clean and organized.
• Maintain a calm demeanor during high-volume periods or unusual events and set a positive example.
• Assist with training by reinforcing successful performance and providing respectful, encouraging coaching as needed.
• Follow operational policies and procedures, including cash-handling, safety, and security requirements.
• Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for food and beverage products.
