About The Position

American Tank Lines is seeking an experienced and motivated Diesel Truck & Trailer Mechanic to maintain its trucking operation in Leesburg, Florida. The company operates a fleet of Class 8 Freightliner tractors and liquid tanker trailers. The mechanic will diagnose problems and perform repairs to keep equipment operating safely and efficiently. The role also includes preventive maintenance, inspections, recordkeeping, and related duties as required.

Requirements

Previous experience repairing Class 8 diesel trucks and trailers.
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
Knowledge of diesel electrical systems, air brakes, and emissions systems.
Ability to work independently and prioritize repairs.
Valid driver's license.
Must have own tools.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Freightliner trucks and Detroit Diesel engines.
Tanker trailer maintenance experience.
Welding and fabrication experience.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair diesel engines, including turbos, injectors, cooling systems, and related components.
Perform computer diagnostics and troubleshoot electrical systems.
Diagnose and repair air brake systems, ABS, and air systems.
Repair transmissions, differentials, and driveline components.
Diagnose and repair suspension and steering systems.
Perform preventive maintenance on Class 8 tractors and tanker trailers.
Inspect and repair trailer components, including valves, pumps, hoses, and related equipment.
Perform DOT inspections and safety checks.
Diagnose and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Perform welding and minor fabrication as needed.
Identify potential mechanical problems before equipment breaks down.
Maintain accurate repair and maintenance records.
Perform additional duties as required.
