About The Position
The Diesel Mechanic will join a fleet service team based in San Leandro, California. The role involves diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing diesel- and gas-powered trucks, vans, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, and semis. Work also includes preventive maintenance, DOT inspections, test drives, system adjustments, service recordkeeping, shop equipment management, and field repairs in varying weather conditions. This is a full-time, hourly position paying $42–$45 per hour depending on experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday on the day shift, with set hours confirmed during the interview.
Requirements
- Three to four years of experience as a diesel or fleet mechanic.
- GED or high school diploma.
- Valid driver's license.
- Own tools.
- Pass a background check.
- Strong accountability and customer service mindset.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel- and gas-powered trucks, vans, medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, and semis.
- Perform preventive maintenance and DOT inspections.
- Perform test drives and make system adjustments as needed.
- Maintain accurate service records and manage shop equipment.
