About The Position
Cox Fleet is seeking individuals interested in a career as a Diesel Technician through its FleeTec Academy program. This paid educational program provides comprehensive training in Diesel Engine fundamentals and truck repair, leading to a full-time position as a Mobile Diesel Mechanic. The program aims to help individuals enter the Diesel Maintenance field without incurring significant debt from traditional technical schools. Participants will receive free education, a set of hand tools with a toolbox, and a weekly paycheck during the initial five-week classroom phase. Upon completion, they will undergo hands-on training with a Lead Technician and be offered a full-time job. The program includes ongoing classroom study for skill development, and upon successful completion, participants will be recognized as Diesel Technicians. Mobile Technicians are equipped with a state-of-the-art vehicle to perform repairs and preventative maintenance at customer locations, ensuring fleet efficiency.
Requirements
- Desire to start a career as a Diesel Technician and become a Mobile Mechanic.
- Willingness and ability to study hard.
- Ability to dedicate 5 weeks away from home for training.
- Maturity to focus on the task at hand.
- Technical aptitude and a passion for fixing vehicles.
- Ability to operate an iPad.
- Must be 21 years old to drive a company truck.
- High School Diploma or an equivalent combination of education is preferred, but not required.
- Must pass background checks, driving record checks, pre-employment drug testing, and physical examination.
Responsibilities
- Attend five weeks of full-time schooling at the Academy Campus.
- Undergo further hands-on training with a Lead Technician.
- Perform vehicle repairs at customer locations.
- Conduct preventative maintenance and general repairs onsite.
- Participate in periodic classroom study for continued skill development.
