About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and equipment that support customers and local communities. The role involves working with diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks, using modern tools and procedures to perform maintenance and repairs. The normal work setting is a repair and maintenance shop at WM’s Charleston, South Carolina hauling site, with work also taking place outdoors and in other site conditions.

Requirements

Two years of relevant work experience.
A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Be over 18 years of age.
Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
Complete work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
Perform vehicle safety checks.
Complete required paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times.
Assist senior mechanics with project work.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards and established safety procedures.
