About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair trucks and equipment used to serve communities. The role involves working on diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks, using modern tools and procedures. The normal work setting is a repair and maintenance shop at WM’s Milledgeville, Georgia hauling sites, with work both indoors and outdoors. The stated starting pay is $25–$32 per hour, depending on experience. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., with no weekends.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Be over 18 years of age.
• Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
• Perform vehicle safety checks.
• Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards, and follow established safety procedures.
