About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and equipment at its Johnstown, Pennsylvania hauling site. The role is based in a repair and maintenance shop and involves working with modern tools and procedures on diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks. The mechanic helps keep vehicles safe and operational for the communities WM serves. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., with no weekends. The job involves both indoor shop or garage conditions and outdoor work in inclement weather, heat, and humidity.

Requirements

At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
Must be over 18 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
Ability to lift, push, pull, crouch, climb, stand, walk, and grasp as required by the job.

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
Respond to emergency service calls for breakdowns.
Perform vehicle safety checks.
Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
Assist senior Mechanics with project work.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards.
Perform all work according to established safety procedures.
