About The Position

Allied Universal is hiring a part-time, unarmed Detention Security Officer in Charleston, South Carolina, to serve a government client at a correctional location. The role involves providing customer service and security support while following site-specific procedures, post orders, and reporting requirements. The position includes driving and requires a valid driver’s license. The pay rate is $17.00 per hour, with scheduled shifts Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license in the state where the job is located; required for driving positions.
At least 1 year of law enforcement experience, 2 years of security-related supervisor or manager experience, or 3 years of security-related experience.
At least 18 years of age for unarmed roles.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Applicants are subject to a background investigation in accordance with applicable laws.
Applicants are subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements may apply under state or local laws and regulations and may be required before employment.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and authorized personnel while carrying out security procedures, site-specific policies, and appropriate emergency response activities.
Respond calmly and professionally to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations, following established post orders and reporting requirements.
Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, access points, and perimeter areas to identify and report unusual activity, hazards, and policy violations.
Monitor access to designated areas, verify authorization as directed, and document visitor activity, incidents, and observations according to site procedures.
Communicate professionally with facility personnel and emergency responders, escalating concerns through designated channels as appropriate.
