Depalletizer Operator EM: (Can Line 1) Sun-Tues 5pm-5am Wed 5pm-11pm
About The Position
The Depalletizer Operator is responsible for operating the depalletizer machine to feed damage-free cans of the proper size to the filler. This role involves visually inspecting cans, ensuring they are upright and properly positioned, and maintaining accurate records of pallet usage and any damage. The operator will also be responsible for clearing the line during can size changes or at the end of production, cleaning the machine and work area during downtime, and performing end-of-week sanitation. The position requires participation as a team member, contributing to team concepts, programs, and policies, and fostering cohesiveness within the team. The operator must be familiar with Simmons' operating systems, including quality, security, and company policies, and understand their role in supporting these systems. This role also involves performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.
Requirements
- Ability to lift 30 lbs.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Background in manufacturing.
- Experienced within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Communication skills & decision quality - Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
- Enjoys working with others and sees that teamwork produces a more productive environment.
- A highly responsive ability to react to daily production priorities in a calm and focused manner.
Nice To Haves
- Might be required to obtain and maintain a company issued forklift license.
Responsibilities
- Operate Depalletizer feeding one layer per sweep onto flat top conveyor.
- Visually inspect cans and remove any damaged or supplier defects.
- Ensure all cans are upright and properly positioned.
- Record each pallet of cans used.
- Record any damage per pallet used.
- Keep each supplier pallet tag.
- Clear line during can size changes or at end of production schedules.
- Clean machine and work area during downtime.
- Perform end of week sanitation.
- Participate as a member of the team, fostering strong cohesiveness and resolving issues.
- Maintain familiarity with Simmons' established operating systems and communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
