About The Position

The Depalletizer Operator is responsible for operating the Depalletizer machine to feed damage-free cans of the proper size to the filler on Can Line 1. This role involves visually inspecting cans, ensuring they are upright and properly positioned, and maintaining accurate records of pallet usage and any damage. The operator also plays a key role in team collaboration, adhering to Simmons operating systems, and performing sanitation duties. This position is for the night shift.

Requirements

Ability to lift 30 lbs.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required: Hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hair net, ear plugs.
May be required to obtain and maintain a company-issued forklift license.
Background in manufacturing.
Experience within a manufacturing/process environment with knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Communication skills & decision quality: Ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and the leadership team.
Enjoys working with others and sees that teamwork produces a more productive environment.
Highly responsive ability to react to daily production priorities in a calm and focused manner.

Responsibilities

Operate Depalletizer feeding one layer per sweep onto flat top conveyor.
Visually inspect cans and remove any damaged or supplier defects.
Ensure all cans are upright and properly positioned.
Record each pallet of cans used.
Record any damage per pallet used.
Keep each supplier pallet tag.
Clear line during can size changes or at the end of production schedules.
Clean machine and work area during downtime.
Perform end-of-week sanitation.
Participate as a member of the team, fostering cohesiveness and supporting team goals.
Understand and support Simmons' operating systems, including quality and security.
Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
