About The Position

The Dentist will provide preventative, complex, and comprehensive dental care services. This includes examining patients, diagnosing dental/oral conditions, prescribing and carrying out appropriate treatments, and recording patient-dentist transactions. The role also involves completing referrals and other paperwork, referring patients for specialty consultation when needed, and educating patients on oral health. The Dentist must be able to listen to patient concerns, provide feedback, calm nervous patients, and respond effectively to patients of all ages. Additionally, the position involves training and evaluating assigned staff, remaining calm and professional under pressure, and working independently with good judgment to resolve problems. There is potential exposure to blood, fluids, or tissue, requiring the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety precautions. The role also involves working with blood-borne pathogens and understanding OSHA protocols, as well as maintaining confidentiality of client records and complying with CC Idaho, Joint Commission, OSHA, and HIPAA regulations.

Requirements

  • DDS or equivalent from an accredited dental school
  • Unrestricted dental license (D.D.S or D.M.D) to practice dentistry in the state of Idaho
  • Ability to read, speak, and write in both English/Spanish in a business setting
  • DEA registration
  • Current CPR/1st Aid
  • Successful clearance of general and DHS background checks

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of public health principles and practices
  • Completion of an accredited general practice residency program
  • Two years of professional dentistry experience and/or training

Responsibilities

  • Provide preventative, complex, and comprehensive dental care services
  • Examine patients, diagnose their dental/oral conditions, prescribe and/or carry out appropriate treatments
  • Record patient-dentist transactions in the patient’s dental records
  • Complete referrals, data collection instruments, and other records or paper work
  • Refer patients for specialty consultation or treatment if needed
  • Educate patients in oral health related conditions and prevention
  • Listen to concerns and suggestions and provide follow-up and feedback in a timely manner
  • Calm nervous patients
  • Respond effectively to patients of all ages
  • Train and evaluate assigned staff
  • Remain calm and professional under pressure
  • Work independently, exercise judgment, and resolve problems
  • Follow basic safety precautions when exposed to hazards or physical risks
  • Understand and adhere to OSHA protocols when working with blood-borne pathogens
  • Maintain standards of confidentiality of CC Idaho clients and records
  • Perform all work duties and activities in compliance with CC Idaho, Joint Commission, OSHA and HIPAA regulations
