About The Position

The Dentist position with the Department of Corrections (DOC) offers a unique chance to provide essential dental care to inmates who rely on your expertise. Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved school of dentistry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • Possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dental evaluations, diagnose conditions, and create treatment plans for inmates
  • Provide restorative and preventative treatments and ensure infection control standards are met
  • Lead Dental Assistants and Hygienists, provide training, and review work performance
  • Inspect schedules, records, and documentation to maintain quality and respond to patient concerns
  • Evaluate clinic operations and prepare required reports to support continuous improvement
  • Maintain and approve inventory items while ensuring proper security and control
