Requirements

• Graduation from an approved school of dentistry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
• Possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

Responsibilities

• Perform periodontal exams, assess medical histories, diagnose conditions, and provide treatment plans for inmates
• Provide restorative and preventative care while maintaining strict infection control standards
• Assist specialists in the performance of dental treatments as needed
• Supervise dental assistants and hygienists, provide training, and guide corrective actions
• Review schedules, records, and grievances to ensure compliance with clinical and administrative standards
• Maintain supply inventories while ensuring proper security and tool management
