Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved school of dentistry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • Possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate oral health by reviewing histories, performing exams, diagnosing conditions, and creating treatment plans
  • Provide restorative, surgical, endodontic, and preventative procedures while maintaining infection control standards
  • Guide Dental Assistants and Dental Hygienists by offering instruction, reviewing work, and supporting hiring decisions
  • Examine schedules, records, and documentation to support patient needs and maintain quality dental operations
  • Manage dental supplies and equipment by monitoring levels, approving requests, and ensuring proper security
  • Consult with physicians, oral surgeons, and other specialists and refer inmates for specialized care as needed
