As the Medical Records Supervisor for the Department of Corrections (DOC) at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Greene, you step into a leadership role that keeps vital health information moving with accuracy and purpose. Requirements

  • Possess a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program.
  • Employees who meet the Necessary Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment.
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and review the work of subordinate staff to ensure accurate and timely tasks
  • Maintain and monitor integrated health records while ensuring compliance with documentation standards
  • Handle filing, issuing, and transferring of records and provide documentation for legal or facility needs
  • Check medical records for completeness and accuracy and direct corrections to appropriate health staff
  • Compile periodic statistical reports that support reviews of medical activity and outcomes
  • Evaluate medical record maintenance practices and identify opportunities for improvement
