About The Position

The Dental Assistant in Training learns basic dental assisting functions under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist and in accordance with the applicable state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties. The role supports patient care, infection control, dental procedures, patient education, and accurate digital charting while complying with applicable regulations and policies. No prior dental experience is required.

Responsibilities

Learn and perform basic dental assisting functions under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist and within the applicable state’s permitted duties.
Learn to provide the Perfect Patient Experience by keeping patients focused on optimal treatment while addressing their individual needs and concerns.
Learn and complete infection control procedures for sterilization and operatory cleaning and disinfection.
Complete radiographs and intra-oral pictures at the dentist’s direction only after completing all state radiation safety requirements.
Prepare patients and procedure trays, provide basic chairside support, and ensure patients are handed off to the front desk for follow-up appointments.
Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care as directed by the dentist.
Record patient charting and treatment notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the dentist.
Present treatment records, consents, and health history to the dentist before patient treatment.
Maintain compliance with applicable state, federal, and other regulations and policies, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and HR policies and practices.
