About The Position

Join Gateway Dental Group and Orthodontics as a Dental Assistant in Training. The role offers the opportunity to learn dental assisting skills from experienced professionals and gain valuable experience. Under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist, the trainee learns basic dental assisting functions and supports patient care in accordance with applicable state requirements.

No prior dental experience is required.

Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Learn and perform basic dental assisting functions under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist and in accordance with the applicable state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties.
Learn to support the Perfect Patient Experience by helping patients stay focused on optimal treatment while addressing their individual needs and concerns.
Learn and complete infection control procedures for sterilization and operatory cleaning and disinfection to protect patients and team members.
Complete radiographs and intra-oral pictures at the dentist’s direction only after completing all state radiation safety requirements.
Prepare for patient care procedures, including preparing the patient and procedure tray, providing basic chairside support, and ensuring the patient is handed off to the front desk for a follow-up appointment.
Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care as directed by the dentist.
Record patient charting and treatment notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the dentist.
Present treatment records, consents, and health history to the dentist before patient treatment.
Maintain compliance with applicable state, federal, and other regulations and policies, including OSHA, WC, Dental Board, HIPAA, ADA, DOL, and HR policies and practices.
